A student asked me if I voted for Barack Obama just because of the color of his skin. Hmmm. . .I had to choose my words carefully. I told her that based upon the 2 choices, Barack Obama's platform on the issues impressed me and promoted what I needed: change. In the past elections, race was never an issue in the race. We just chose a president based on the issues. But because of race, it was an issue. Regardless, the American public spoke and elected a historic choice, Barack Obama!

I personally have been asked this question quiet a bit and I actually had to sit back and think about the answer. Here is what I concluded:

If John McCain was black, but had the same personality, demeanor, and the same vice presidential pick, I can honestly say that I would NOT have voted for McCain. The premise of my vote wasn't solely based on his skin color, it just happened to be a bonus!

I couldn't be prouder of my choice.

You can't always say what you're thinking. . .but I do!
